After years of yo-yo dieting it can be difficult to get rid of the stubborn weight
(Read yesterday’s post about yo-yo dieting first, if you have not done so yet)
Weight gain is caused by the wrong dietary choices, too much eating, not enough eating and not getting the right amount of nutrition for your body’s needs. When you take medications or synthetic diet products, it adds toxins to the body. This adds to the problem by clogging your cells, blocking them from absorbing the little nutrition you get.

After years of pollution, it takes longer for the body to lose weight
Before you can start losing weight, your body has to rid itself of the toxins that have built up over the years. Once the toxins are gone, it also takes time for the cells to absorb all the nutrition from your food and only then will you start seeing a real weight loss result.
With a program such as Herbalife you will get the nutrition you need quicker and therefore you will start losing weight quicker too. While many people do lose weight in the first week or two on the program, momentum only sets in after about 3 weeks.

It takes 21 days for the body to get used to a new routine
For this reason, it is essential to stick to the same way of doing things. Feed your body the same amount of food at the same time of the day, every day. If you usually have a shake at 7 and a shake at 12, then don’t have your first shake at 10 and leave out the second one the next day. (I will cover more of this on our next post.)

So how do I know that I have lost a reasonable amount of weight?
Everyone is different and therefore there is no such thing as a “standard” amount of weight you should lose.
Years ago some crazy distributor started posting ads about “Lose 30lbs in 30 days guaranteed”. The truth is that these ads gave people a false idea about the products. It is not necessarily healthy to lose that amount of weight in that amount of time. It is not healthy or realistic – unless of course you eat no food at all, but Herbalife suggests 2 shakes, 1 normal meal and two healthy snacks a day.
Yes, people have lost that amount of weight on Herbalife in that amount of time, so it is possible. It can even be healthy for people who are mortally obese.
However, it is a known fact that people with more weight to lose, usually lose it quicker than someone who only has 5 kgs to lose. They have even kept it off.
However, the average (and slightly above average) person will probably not lose weight at that pace. A recent customer lost 8.5kgs in his first month, which is brilliant and he is taking it easy and happy with losing the weight slowly. He may not lose at this pace until he had lost all his weight and he understands that.
His opinion is that he took years to gain it and therefore he can’t expect to lose it all in 2 or 3 months.
The best way to figure out whether you are losing weight at the right pace
If you want to know if you are losing weight at a realistic pace, there are a few ways to measure it. Measure your results against past experiences:
- The pace at which you lost weight on diet pills before
- The pace at which you would be losing weight in the same period of time in a gym
- The pace at which you would be losing weight eating healthily
- The pace at which you would lose weight on fad diets
Also weigh up the value of the above results against Herbalife’s added benefits
Remember that Herbalife is not a diet, but a lifestyle nutritional program. The philosophy is that weight loss stems from healthy nutrition.
When you lose weight on Herbalife, it is basically a side effect of getting the right nutrition.
In addition to losing weight, you will also become healthier and more energized with a stronger immune system – the very things that are compromised when you use diet products.

However you are losing weight – celebrate even the slow results
Do you know how one pound (2.2kgs) really looks?
Yes, you know how the cellulite wobbles on your thunder thighs.
Yes, you know about all the pounds that make up the muffin-top that flops over your favorite jeans.
(Well, if you don’t, I do, so just take my word for it!)
But that fat is nicely dressed up in your smooth and silky skin and perhaps a fine layer of hair….

We thought we’d share a few pictures with you for added inspiration. But do you REALLY know what a pound of pure human fat looks like? :-)
Slow Results Take-Away
- Remember that the industry standard for healthy weight loss is about 1-3kgs (1-1.5lbs) per week.
- Remember that fat is heavier than muscle and protein turns fat to muscle. While you will not look like Arnold Schwarzenegger when you are done, you will probably not have to lose 80lbs to get to the perfect size and be firm, trim and healthy. So do your measurements weekly!
- The slower you lose, the easier it is for your body to adjust and therefore you will be able to keep the weight off.
